Another stop we made was in the town of Polignano a Mare , considered by some to be the “pearl of the Adriatic”.
I agree with this description and consider this to be the prettiest town we visited during our trip. It wasn’t too big or crowded, lined the rocky cliffs with their grottos, beautiful water, quaint side streets.
Also within this town, was an exotic grotto cave restaurant that overlooked the Adriatic, called Ristorante Grotta Palazzese . Although you pay for this view, it was truly worth the dining experience.
Jayne is right at the center of the picture with her back to us.
While in this part of southern Italy, on our way back to our residence, we stopped to visit the town of Alberobello . It is known for its “trulli ” buildings with cone shaped roofs. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site.
There were many unique shops in the historic center.
